Details
Travellers Aid operates from seven service hubs at Southern Cross, Flinders Street and Parkville Stations in Melbourne and Seymour, Ballarat and Geelong Stations in regional Victoria. They also provide mobility assistance at the Melbourne Airport. Travellers Aid is dedicated to making travel inclusive and accessible for all Victorians.
Each year, they provide over 20,000 instances of travel assistance—helping people access their
communities with confidence and independence. Services include personal care, buggy transport, disability support, a companion service, and emergency relief.
Travellers Aid runs a program called the Companion Service where volunteers can meet someone at a public transport hub and accompany them to a medical appointment, accommodation, social engagement, work or school/education. For short appointments, such as medical, the volunteer will usually remain at the hospital/medical centre and accompany the person back.
