Te Wa Whakatā Ōkārito Accessible Accommodation has 1 x Accessible Self Contained Cabin with entrance width of 850mm. There is one main room with a super king sized bed with wheelchair access at one side. The bed can be made into a twin. The bathroom has a roll-in shower and toilet with fixed grab bars as well as a glide under  hand basin. The main room also includes a small self-contained kitchen with hotplates, microwave, fridge and a bench suitable for a wheelchair. Please note: this property is rated Assisted Walking due to bathroom door width being 79cm. If you are a wheelchair user and can navigate through doorways of 79cm then this property may be suitable for you.

There are six other cabins that all have access doorway widths of 790mm. There are two studio rooms that all have wide access with sliding double doors.

The property is easily accessible with ramps.

Te Wa Whakatā is a stylish and new accommodation facility that is at the edge of the Tasman Sea, with views of the Southern Alps and is adjacent to the Ōkārito Lagoon - the largest unmodified wetland in New Zealand. The seven stand alone cabins are all surrounded by native bush filled with native birds. There is a large, fully equipped communal kitchen and dining room. All spaces are wheelchair friendly with clear signage, lighting and space to move around.

The property is located at the coast and is a 30 minute drive to Franz Josef Glacier, Whataroa and the White Heron Colony and is 1.5 hours drive south of Hokitka. Heading south it is en route to Haast and Wanaka. The property is a perfect place for groups of people who are happy to self-cater, have the privacy of their own spaces and then come together at meal times etc.

The whole site is suitable for wheelchair access.
