Inside this guest suite shed are an architecturally designed living room, bedroom, and bathroom. A queen-sized daybed can be closed off from the living room and a second bedroom, ideal for carers and family members.
Designed by alsoCAN architects, and featured in Dwell design magazine, this unique place has a style all its own. The beautiful texture of timber boards and rusted metal has been exposed inside, with new roof and walls to the outside so it is fully insulated. A warm rustic urban cabin. It has a shelf with games, Australian flora and fauna books, Tasmanian walking and travel guidebooks, plus a basket of brochures to help plan your next adventure.
Enjoy a heavenly sleep on award-winning Sleeping Duck mattresses with Dunlopillo latex pillows. Say hello to your new very furry friends who reside with owners who live in the bungalow: two Collies (Rough); mother Cienna and Minnie, her daughter. They are Lassie dogs, so they love people and are a calm, comforting presence, but they also love a good bark at passersby, evil bin trucks and neighbouring cats. They are kept inside most of the time and at night. If you want to see more of them, they love to hang out with guests; otherwise they are kept away so they don’t disturb you.
You will have the self-contained guest suite and deck for your personal use, with your own path to the street. It looks out onto a large backyard with old fruit trees and a view to the hills on the other side of the North Esk River.
Temporary fencing between the deck and the backyard has been erected to prevent dogs from escaping and going for a walk. There is a gate you can close along your path if you want to remove the temporary fence to play with their dogs or enjoy the backyard. Or you can step over the fence. The backyard is not wheelchair-accessible, but your deck is. There is an apricot tree where you can pick fruit in season from the deck seat.
Activities in and around Suite Shed Launceston Accessible Accommodation
Launceston is a great base. Very easy to drive out of town to visit sights, but there is plenty to do in town too. Launceston in the Tamar Valley is Australia's only entry in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2025. From Launceston, you can follow the Tamar River north through Tasmania's premium wine-growing region,
past forested hills and farmland, lavender fields, vineyards, orchards, and pretty riverside towns. Historic villages are found around every corner, from Longford on the outskirts of Launceston to Evandale, Ross, and Campbell Town along the Heritage Highway south. Cataract Gorge has natural rocky outcrops, walking tracks, native wildlife, a Victorian garden with peacocks, a free Summer swimming pool, suspension bridges, and a chairlift. Very close to town, you can even walk there along the river levy from the base of their street. It is a long, relatively flat walk.
The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery has a natural history and science museum housed in old railway sheds. They used to make trains here, now stuffed with stuffed-animal displays and science exhibits. Great for kids and big kids on a rainy day. Art part of QVMAG Museum, although there is crossover. Ashley Bird,
Senior Curator, has an excellent eye, combining contemporary art and curios from QVMAG's extensive archives.
City Park is a traditional English-style public park, always green and relaxing, with a conservatory, Victorian cast iron folly and Japanese monkey enclosure.
