Austin Tourist Park Tamworth Accessible Accommodation has a double Ensuite Cabin 6 has an open plan layout, with a double bed one end, separated from the lounge/dining and kitchen by an easy pull across the curtain. The bathroom has lots of grab rails spread throughout it, the roll-in shower has a seat.
The spare bedroom is not really accessible for those in a wheelchair, however perfect for a carer or partner with a bunk bed and a small cupboard.
The cabin has a ramp-up to the decent-sized veranda and easy swing doors throughout the cabin.
Please note our standard door width is 80 cm plus. This property has only 77 cm in width to the bathroom (slightly below recommended). Please consider this before booking to ensure it meets your needs.
They have three cabins that offer a mix of accessible options. This listing is for cabin 6. Below is a description and video for the other two less accessible cabins, which may suit some mobilities.
Double Ensuite Cabin 29 is not easily suited for a wheelchair, this being said it’s still an accessible cabin for those not in a wheelchair. With a ramp-up to the small veranda, the cabin has a roll-in, roll-out bathroom with a small lip at the entrance and plenty of grab rails. Deluxe Queen Ensuite Cabin 25 is the largest accessible cabin, with a ramp best suited for an electric wheelchair, the veranda at the top of the ramp is massive and has plenty of room for everyone. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second room has two singles, the spacious cabin includes a lounge room and a dining/kitchen area. Across the road is a service station that offers basic groceries, as well as fuel and gas, there is also a pub and a café next door which offers food and drinks and the café has homemade pies.
The Austin Tourist Park is a family-owned and operated business situated on 10 acres on the banks of the Peel River at Tamworth. The Park is just 7 minutes from the main street of Tamworth on the New England Highway (sometimes marked as Armidale Road).

For over 100 years, Tamworth Regional Gallery has provided access to the arts in a regional centre. The Gallery first opened on 1 June 1919 as the Tamworth Art Salon and Art Library. It was established with a gift of 100 artworks and art reference books by the local artist and collector John Salvana ‘to encourage art in the country’. The Gallery has a ramp out the back for access as well as a ramp out the front and then a lift, inside the building to get upstairs. The front doors are automatic.
