This villa is new this year and is a spacious open plan layout with huge round tower and picture window looking out to sea. It is around 100 metres from the sea - and a beautiful secluded sandy beach is just five minutes walk away. Accessibility The villa is single storey and all areas are accessible easily with a wheelchair, including the poolside patio is by a gentle slope. The master bedroom has wheelchair friendly bathroom fittings in the en-suite shower room.
Outside There is a roman-ended (steps leading down into the water from patio) 8x4 metre private pools next to the sun terrace in large gardens (approx 1000 square metres). The villa is new but already has an olive tree. We are planning to plant fig trees and other treats in the coming months. There is a private driveways with plenty of space for cars.
Coast/Beach There are numerous beaches nearby, although the nearest is not particularly easy to access with a wheelchair. However there are also many other beaches to discover on the coastal road to Kyrenia. Karsiyaka beach (just 10 minutes drive) even has giant turtles nesting on it. You may find yourself swimming with them - or watching the babies hatch and head for the sea for the first time.
Golf There is an 18 hole championship golf course at Esentepe, which is around 45 minutes drive away.
Special interest holidays There are many different activities in Northern Cyprus including horse-riding, snorkelling, swimming, diving, fishing and turtle-spotting - all within a fifteen minute drive of Kayalar. There are also vineyards which produce some very fine local wines that (unusually for holiday wine) will still taste good if you take it home. Try one of the tasting evenings! Northern Cyprus has some of the best restaurants in the Mediterranean. Whisky is incredibly cheap.
Travel Car hire is essential and we can recommend companies which can deliver your choice of car to the airport ready to meet you.
We recommend flying into Ercan as it is less hassle and closer to the destination, however you can save a bit of money by flying in to Paphos or Larnaca in Southern Cyprus and driving across the border. It's best then to get a taxi from the south to the north.
Distances Kyrenia (Girne) with its beautiful and historic harbour is around 30 minutes drive. Lefkosa (Nicosia) is about 45 minutes away. The beautiful village of Bellapais with its Abbey and stunning views of Kyrenia is a 40 min drive as it the mountain castle (ruin) of St Hilarion. The whole island is only about two hours from one end to the other - so you are never too far from anything.
Further details There is a new fish restaurant a very short walk away. Otherwise, there are plenty of restaurants within a 15 minute drive. There is a local shop in the village for the bare essentials, however there are large and well stocked supermarkets within a 15 minutes drive. There are banks in Kyrenia and ATM's at various locations on the coastal road. Menus are always in English and many restaurants will accept Sterling. The official local currency is the Turkish lira and the strong exchange rate means your pounds go a great deal further than they would in the Euro zone. English is widely spoken, you drive on the left and all electrical appliances can be plugged into standard three pin UK sockets.
Booking notes To secure the booking we require your email confirmation to book the villa. We will then send you an invoice for a 20% nonrefundable deposit. The balance is required eight weeks before you arrive. Online Credit Card Payments are possible using Paypal, however you will need to pay an additional fee of 5% per payment to cover costs. To avoid this fee, simply arrange to pay directly into our bank account.
