A survey conducted by employee benefits provider B&CE Benefit Schemes shows that 44 per cent of British workers have chosen property investment in order to save for their retirement as they see it a safer way to invest for later years.
Why? Well the most common reason behind this trend is that property investors think that they will have more control over their investment this way, and 12 per cent of those choose to invest in property ,because they don't trust pensions. Overall 18 per cent of workers are saving for their retirement in some way other than contributing to a pension. The main reasons why workers are using alternatives to pensions were found to be: perceived tax advantages; control; flexibility and return.
