ABOUT US
Our vision is to create a luxury home-from-home holiday cottage which subtly incorporates specifically designed facilities for the less able-bodied in a discreet way. We are aiming to provide an environment which despite the specialist facilities is non-clinical and unobtrusive – a luxurious and appealing holiday home whether or not you need to use all of the accessible facilities.
Our inspiration comes from years of holidaying with a family member who is in an electric wheelchair and the difficulties encountered along the way – both with access and the type of environment provided. We would love to take away the stress that comes with worrying about if the cottage will be suitable when you get there and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have to put your mind at rest.
We believe we have created a special place for you to come and stay which will be warm, cosy and relaxing, together with the wonderful location, nestled almost under the Ironbridge, with amazing views of the gorge no matter what season you choose to visit.
Any suggestions you may have which will help us to provide the right place for you are more than welcome. We may have missed something along the way, we don’t profess to know everything, and we would love to get it right for you. We feel confident that you will leave our cottage feeling rested and rejuvenated. If you are happy with your stay all we ask is that you share your experience with others.
So please get in touch if you would like to know any more about our cottage, we would really love to hear from you...
...and hopefully look forward to welcoming you to our cottage later in the year.
THE COTTAGE
From the private driveway the cottage is accessed along a wide pathway with a generous turning point for wheelchairs and access into the cottage is straightforward. Doorways are wide, and thresholds are flat throughout the downstairs. There are oak beams and low ceilings as expected in the 18th century part of the cottage.
Downstairs there is a bedroom, wetroom, dining room, kitchen and family room with two further bedrooms and a toilet upstairs.
The kitchen is fully fitted with a range cooker, fridge, microwave and the usual mod cons with all the equipment necessary to cook Sunday lunch!
In the bedroom there is an electric profiling adjustable bed with optional left and right hand transfer from the ceiling track hoist and a single bed. Electrical points are plentiful and there is room outside the bedroom to charge a wheelchair overnight. The ceiling track hoist runs through to the wetroom via double sliding doors.
The wetroom has been designed with wheelchair accessibility in mind. There is also a toilet/shower chair and wall mounted fold down shower seat and safety rails.
The dining room has a large table and chairs with seating for six people. There is an inglenook fireplace with a log burning stove.
The family room is light and spacious and has plenty of soft seating with a large screen TV with freeview, Wii console and games.
Upstairs there are two further bedrooms – one double and one twin/double - each with vanity washbasin. On the landing there is a separate toilet.
The cottage is centrally heated with double or secondary glazing throughout.
Outside is a large patio area with BBQ and garden furniture. The rest of thegarden is elevated but accessible and private. There is an outhouse to the rear which houses a washing machine and freezer.
The driveway provides offroad parking for 3 vehicles.
